There are many preparations to make when planning the perfect Disney trip, but one you may not have thought of is prepping your phone! These simple steps for prepping your phone will make your vacation even more enjoyable and magical!
Clear space on your phone. The first thing you should absolutely do when prepping your phone is to make sure you clear space on your phone for pictures and videos you will want to take on your trip. Move any photos or videos currently on your phone to your computer or your iCloud drive. You should also delete all of your text messages (you'd be surprised how much space these take up) as well as clearing your browser cache. To clear your browser cache, go to Settings, Safari, and click Clear History and Website Data.
Another thing you can do to clear space is to delete any unnecessary apps you have downloaded. For example, I know I won't be using the Whataburger App while I'm at Disney, so that gets deleted before arrival.
Buy an external charger. The MyDisneyExperience App is a battery drainer, so you want to make sure you bring an external charger while you are in the parks - there is nothing worse than being in the middle of using the app and your phone dies! Disney World has kiosks where you can purchase a FuelRod for $30, but these are low capacity chargers. You can also find plenty of good options for a portable charger on Amazon, ranging anywhere from $10 to $40.
Buy a waterproof case. This step isn't completely necessary, especially since newer phones like the iPhone 11 are water resistant, but if you have a phone that isn't water resistant you may want to invest in a waterproof case. My husband personally loves having a waterproof phone case because then he can take his phone in the pool or on water rides like Kali River Rapids and not have to worry.
Take screenshots of dining reservations or FastPasses. The MyDisneyExperience App, like any app, can crash from time to time. Taking a screenshot of your dining reservations or your FastPasses ensures that you'll still have that information if the app crashes for any reason.
Download the following free apps before arrival:
MyDisneyExperience - This app is the holy grail of apps for your Disney World Trip. This shows your park tickets, your dining reservations and your resort hotel reservation. You can also use the app to mobile order food, check today's showtimes for each park, check ride wait times at each park and even join a boarding group for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.
Play Disney Parks - Play interactive games while in the parks! This is a great way to keep your party entertained while waiting in lines.
Countdown for Disney - This is a simple Disney countdown app, but who doesn't love seeing exactly how many days they have left until their trip?!
WDWTodayChannel - This app shows updated park hours, daily showtimes for parades and nighttime attractions, current weather as well as a 5-day weather forecast for Orlando. This is a live stream of the channel you get on your television in your Disney Resort Hotel room, but I like having it to watch and reference before we arrive.
Shop Disney - Order all your park gear before your arrival!
