A Guide to Disney's Pop Century Resort

Located close to Disney's Hollywood Studios, Disney's Pop Century Resort is easily one of the most popular Value resorts on property. Perfect for the young and the young at heart, you will find larger than life memorabilia from yo-yo's and Play-Doh to Rubik's Cubes and rollerblades as you explore. Lets take a look at some of the key features that make this resort a favorite.

Resort Sections:

The guest buildings of the resort are grouped in decades - the 1950's, 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's. Each section is colorfully decorated to match the decade it is in.

Classic Hall: Classic Hall is the main building, in the center of the resort, where you will check in. Located inside Classic Hall is Everything POP Shopping & Dining, a quick service restaurant which offers a variety of food choices (breakfast, lunch, and dinner.) The eating area inside is large, and there is also an eating area outside. Stop to check out the fun displays all around the walls in the lobby for all the nostalgic feels, or play some games in the Fast Forward Arcade.

1950's: "Hang Loose" in this area that features dancing sock hoppers on the side of the buildings, bowling pin staircases, and a 40 foot tall Lady and the Tramp! The Bowling Pool, unsurprisingly shaped like a bowling pin, features a 40 foot tall jukebox that blasts rock and roll music.

1960's: Peace, Man! Baloo and Mowgli (Jungle Book was released in 1967) tower over the flower shaped Hippy Dippy Pool, complete with flower fountains and a kiddie pool. Stay Groovy and grab a drink at the Petals Pool Bar or enjoy a game of ping pong.

1970's: Boogie Down! The 70's section boasts giant iconic pieces like the Big Wheel, the Mickey Mouse telephone, and a giant foosball table complete with giant foosball players! While the 70's section doesn't have its own pool, it is conveniently situated between the 60's and 80's/90's sections, so their pools are just a close walk away! There is also a playground beside the 70's section.

1980's: A giant Rubik's Cube, Roger Rabbit, and a massive Walkman make this section totally awesome! Relax in the totally tubular Computer Pool which is, you guessed it, rectangular in shape like a computer - complete with a keyboard on the pavement beside the pool.

1990's: The 90's section is combined with the 80's section and shares the Computer Pool. The massive floppy disk that houses the laundry facilities and the cell phone themed stair cases are "da bomb!"

Rooms:

In 2018, all of the guest rooms at Pop Century were refurbished. Rooms measure 260 square feet, and Disney did a great job at not wasting any space. Most rooms offer a queen bed as well as a pull-down queen bed.

*Money Saving Tip:* Disney hotel rules allow 4 guests per room with 1 infant under 3. If there are more than 2 adults in a room, Disney charges an additional fee per additional adult, per night. If you have a large family, reserve 2 rooms at Pop Century - there are over 700 connecting rooms available, and this will give you more space as well as 2 bathrooms.

The room choices are as follows:

- Standard (Views of the Resort Hotel or Parking Areas. 1 King Bed or 1 Queen Bed and 1 Queen-size Table Bed.)

- Standard Pool View (Views of Bowling Pool or Computer Pool. 1 King Bed or 1 Queen Bed and 1 Queen-size Table Bed.)

Preferred (Views of Courtyard or Landscaping. 1 King Bed or 1 Queen Bed and 1 Queen-size Table Bed.)

Preferred Pool View (Views of Hippy Dippy Pool. 1 King Bed or 1 Queen Bed and 1 Queen-size Table Bed.)

The difference between a Standard room and a Preferred room is location - Preferred rooms are located closer to the Classic Hall.

*Keep in Mind:* Rooms at Pop Century do not have private balconies, patios or interior entrances. Often, Preferred and Pool View rooms are louder due to traffic flow in these areas.

Transportation:

Buses: The bus stop for the Disney buses is located outside of Classic Hall. Buses travel to Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Disney Springs and the water parks.

*If you plan on traveling to another resort for a dining reservation, note that the Disney buses will NOT travel to other resorts. You will need to take a bus to either one of the parks or Disney Springs, then catch a bus from there going to the resort your reservation is at.*

Skyliner: A huge transportation convenience has arrived with the new Disney Skyliner. Take the Skyliner to Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort, Hollywood Studios, Disney's Riviera Resort, Disney's Boardwalk Resort, and Epcot. *Note that while buses will travel to Epcot and Hollywood Studios, they do not come to the resort as frequently now that the Skyliner has been introduced.*

Walking: You can walk to Disney's Art of Animation Resort.

Ride Share: Uber and Lyft are both available.

Disney's Pop Century Resort offers fun theming and affordable pricing, and it's no wonder it's a favorite!
