NEW: CDC Expanding Negative COVID-19 Test Requirement to All Incoming Travelers

Planning on flying outside of the United States? The CDC is now expanding the requirement for a negative COVID-19 test to ALL air passengers entering the United States.

Per the CDC: "Before departure to the United States, a required test, combined with the CDC recommendations to get tested again 3-5 days after arrival and stay home for 7 days post-travel, will help slow the spread of COVID-19 within US communities from travel-related infections. Pre-departure testing with results known and acted upon before travel begins will help identify infected travelers before they board airplanes."

Travelers coming into the U.S. must get a viral test within 3 days of their flight home, and must provide written documentation (may be paper or electronic copy) of their test result to the airline.

Alternatively, passengers can provide documentation that they have recovered from COVID-19, with documentation of test results conducted during the three months preceding the flight's departure.

Airlines must confirm the negative test result before they board, and passengers may need to show test results again upon landing. Passengers will also be required to present a CDC Passenger Disclosure and Attestation form to the airline prior to boarding. You can find that form here for reference.

This order applies to all air passengers 2 years of age and older traveling into the United States, including U.S. Citizens and legal permanent residents. The order will go into effect January 26th, 2021.

A COVID-19 test before entering the United States is just one way to help combat the spread of Coronavirus, and as always everyone should be continuing to follow CDC guidelines for staying safe. For more information, visit www.cdc.gov.
